El pasado día 17 de septiembre la presidenta brasileña anunció su decisión de posponer el viaje a los Estados Unidos que tenía programado para el mes de octubre al no haber recibido explicaciones satisfactorias de Washington sobre el espionaje a sus comunicaciones, las de sus asesores y a la estatal petrolera Petrobras. También informó su disposición de abordar el tema en la recién inaugurada 68va sesión de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, ante la que tiene previsto intervenir el martes próximo, ocasión en la que exigirá que sean adoptadas normas globales que protejan los derechos individuales y prohíban el espionaje a gobernantes, empresas y ciudadanos.

La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) se ha negado categóricamente, en contra de su propio mandato, a publicar las pruebas que han demostrado en Iraq que el uso de uranio empobrecido y otras armas en Iraq por el ejército estadounidense no solo asesinó a muchos civiles sino que sigue haciéndolo consecuencia de las malformaciones congénitas de los bebés.
